Ole Miss women’s golfers Kathryn Fowler and Stani Schiavone entered Wednesday’s round sitting in a tie for 14th out of the 42 two-person teams playing at the Pure Silk Women’s Collegiate Team Championship presented by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.

When Wednesday’s round finished, the Rebel duo had moved up five spots on the leaderboard and will now enter Thursday’s final round in a tie for ninth.

Playing best ball golf in the second round of the tournament, which is played in Powell, Ohio, at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club (par 72 – 5,211 yards), Fowler and Schiavone fired a 3-under-par, 69.

Schiavone, a rising senior from Americus, Ga., recorded two birdies, while Schiavone, a rising junior from Bangor, Pa., had three birdies.

The final round of the tournament will begin Thursday at 7 a.m. CT. Ole Miss will tee off from No. 1 at 8:06 a.m. CT, and will be paired with one of Louisville’s two teams. After playing alternate shot Tuesday and best ball Wednesday, the tournament will shift to aggregate score of the two players Thursday.

The tournament consists of 42 two-person teams comprised of the top current women’s collegiate golfers from around the country. Each team pairs players from the same university in a 54-hole stroke-play event. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf, including Division I, II and III programs.

Ole Miss is one of five schools from the Southeastern Conference competing in the Pure Silk Women’s Collegiate Team Championship. The Rebels are joined this week by Kentucky, Missouri, which has two teams in the event, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Taelor Rubin and former Rebel Haley Sanders finished in a tie for fifth at last year’s championship.
