FORT WORTH, Texas – Ole Miss’ Bo Wallace is one of 34 players on the 2013 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award® Watch List, announced Wednesday by the Davey O’Brien Foundation.

Wallace makes his second national award watch list of the preseason. He was given the same honor by the Maxwell Award, which goes to the nation’s top player.

A junior and former JUCO national player of the year, Wallace passed for the third-most yards (2,994) and fourth-most touchdowns (22) in Ole Miss history last year en route to capturing the C Spire Conerly Trophy as the state’s top collegiate player. The Pulaski, Tenn., native finished top five in the SEC in points, total offense and passing yards in his first season in Oxford.

Other Rebels named to watch lists this preseason include Donte Moncrief (Biletnikoff Award), Denzel Nkemdiche (Nagurski TrophyLombardi Award), Evan Swindall (Rimington Trophy) and D.T. Shackelford(Lott IMPACT TrophyButkus Award).

The 2012 Davey O’Brien Winner, Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M) and 2012 finalist Braxton Miller (Ohio State) join five 2012 semifinalists on the Watch List: Tajh Boyd (Clemson), Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville), Marcus Mariota (Oregon), AJ McCarron (Alabama) and Aaron Murray (Georgia). The SEC led all conferences with seven quarterbacks on the list.

Appearing on the Watch List is not a requirement for a player to win the Davey O’Brien Award. Quarterbacks from all 125 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Nov. 4. The Foundation and the Selection Committee will announce three finalists on Monday, Nov. 25. The 2013 Davey O’Brien Winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The 37th Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner will be held Feb. 17, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.
