Tupelo Flea Market Celebrates 25 Years July 12-14
Win Door Prizes, Raffles and More!
Television classics like Roseanne and Murphy Brown debuted. Some of the top grossing films included Rain Man and Beetlejuice. Faith, sung by George Michael, was the best selling single in America. And in 1988, The Tupelo Flea Market opened its doors to the public.
The Flea Market, officially dubbed Tupelo Gigantic Flea Market & Craft Show, will celebrate its 25th anniversary Friday through Sunday, July 12-14. For 25 years, it has produced more than 300 events and has become a well-known, central location in north Mississippi for small businesses, consumers, charitable organizations, politicians and almost everyone else to congregate once or more every month.
“We’re like one big family over here,” said Melissa Kelly, director of the flea market. “Some of our vendors have been with us since we began operations, and we’ve watched their businesses grow and thrive over the years. In many cases, we’ve also watched their families grow and their children go off to college!”
Small businesses including Avery and Associates, Savvy Gourmand, Perrigo Antiques and Baby Jane’s, have been selling their wares at the Tupelo Flea Market for many, many years. According to Kevin J. Seddon, president of the Tupelo Furniture Market, which is the facility that houses the Flea Market event, many of the companies travel from throughout the tri-state area.
“We have companies showing here from Alabama and Tennessee, as well as from Mississippi – sometimes from even farther away,” said Seddon. “A Touch of Class, Posh Boutique & Wholesale and Jan’s are based in Alabama. Hugh’s DVDs and Rugs, Décor & More come and show from Tennessee.”
To reward the public that has regularly participated in the Flea Market over many years, door prizes will be given away every day of the event. Attendees can also participate in a raffle for a “shopping spree” and bigger ticket items. To show their appreciation to exhibiting companies, old and new, the Flea Market will also provide commemorative t-shirts, as well as pizza and cake for the exhibiting companies!
