Former NBA Player Oliver Robinson Visits Oxford Boys & Girls Club
Oliver L. Robinson spoke to the teens of the Boys & Girls Club of Oxford during a financial literacy workshop Tuesday in Oxford, Miss.
Robinson, known as the first athlete signed to a four-year basketball scholarship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and the first player to be drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, currently serves as an Alabama House Representative and is president of Robinson & Robinson Communications, a financial consulting firm based in Birmingham, Ala.
Robinson’s Boy & Girls Club presentation focused on the realities of consumer abuse dealing with credit. During the presentation, listeners were given advice on how to avoid accumulating bad credit, and how bad credit can affect their quality of life.
As a financial consulting firm, Robinson & Robinson Communications consults major financial institutions on federal regulations as well as public and community relations’ issues. In 1999, the firm made a commitment to inform young people of credit facts, and since has spoken to more than 86,000 high school students and students at historically black colleges and universities as well as community and church organizations.
