Double Decker 5K runners hit Oxford streets
Despite worries about threatening weather, approximately1,000 people stepped off in the the annual Double Decker Spring Run.
The 10K began bright and early at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K and a fun run for kids about 15 minutes later.
For some, the race took on special meaning in light of the Boston Marathon bombings. Several local runners dedicated their miles today to the victims and their families.
Benjamin Dawson of Oxford crossed the finish line first in the 5K. The former Nike runner had a leg up on the competition, his wife, Erin, is an Ole Miss track coach.
