The Ole Miss baseball team returns to Swayze Field tonight to take on the Kentucky Wildcats in an SEC showdown.

Ole Miss (30-12, 10-8 SEC) is currently ranked as high as number sixteen in the country, according to USA Today / Coaches poll. The Rebels are coming off an impressive 11-1 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Tuesday.

Sophomore Auston Bousfield had a huge hand in the Rebels win –– going for three-for-four at the plate, with three runs scored and driving in two RBI’s.

No. 24 Kentucky (24-16, 7-11SEC) comes into the weekend after a hard fought 18-inning loss to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers by a score of 3-2.  The Wildcats are led at the plate this season by Kyle Barnett, who has a .352 batting average that boasts four doubles and a triple on the season. Teammate A.J. Reed is the top run producer for Big Blue with 10 home runs and 45 RBI’s on the year.

The probable pitching matchup for this SEC series tilt will showcase the arm of A.J. Reed (Tonight), Jared Grundy (Friday) and Corey Littrell (Saturday) –– all southpaw’s for Kentucky.  Coach Mike Bianco will send Wahl, Mayers and Smith to the mound.

Ole Miss and Kentucky have laced up their spikes and stepped out on the diamond to face off against each other in 71 meetings.  The Rebels have a 42-29 lead in the al-time series. Last season, Ole Miss dropped the series to Kentucky in Lexington two games to one.

Make your plans for a fun weekend at Swayze with the Rebels and the Wildcats playing on ESPNU tonight.  First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.  The games on Friday and Saturday are set for 6:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. respectively.
