Marshall Henderson
Love him or hate him, like it or not, Marshall Henderson EXPLODED Ole Miss basketball onto the national stage this season. It started, more or less, with 1.3 seconds left in the Vandy game and that 37 foot buzzer-beater to send the game to OT and the win! I loved listening to David Kellum and Dave Neal’s amazement at that shot.
Marshall Henderson went to high school in Texas and played ball all around until he saw Andy Kennedy coaching and became a fan. So he landed in Oxford, Mississippi. He came down here and put on our jersey and started calling himself and Ole Miss Rebel. Now he’s staying for his senior season. He says he’s home. He didn’t come without credentials though. Marshall Henderson was the 2012 Junior College Player of the Year.
Then came the fun! The Auburn students having a fit, The Landshark, the Gator Chomp, Charles Barkley getting ‘Fins Up’ and so much more. Even the SEC didn’t know what to think about their leading scorer and conference champion. The season was wild and fun and crazy and great! Along the way Marshall Handerson was awarded the Howell Trophy for Outstanding Basketball Player in Mississippi. Henderson is the first Rebel to lead the SEC in scoring since Justin Reed in 2004.
