OM Softball Host Samford
Ole Miss Faces Samford At Home Wednesday At 6 p.m. CT

With just over half of the season under its belt, the Ole Miss softball team (18-15, 1-5 Southeastern Conference) will stay at home Wednesday for a midweek tilt against Samford at 6 p.m. CT at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
“We are ready to come out Wednesday and play some good softball,” Ole Miss softball head coach Windy Thees said. “Our focus is taking on the second half of the season and winning games.”
As is the case for all Wednesday games at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, the Rebels’ game against Samford will be a Dollar Wednesday, with hot dogs and popcorn costing just $1 at the concession stand. Also on Wednesday, the first 50 fans to the park will receive one free ticket to the Ole Miss baseball team’s series finale against Texas A&M on March 24.
Junior center fielder RT Cantillo continues to lead Ole Miss with a team-best batting average of .385. Cantillo has a team-high 35 hits and five home runs, and is second on the team with 11 stolen bases. Sophomore third baseman Allison Brown is second on the team in terms of batting average, hitting .330, and has hit an SEC-leading 13 doubles to go with her team-high 25 RBI.
In the circle, juniors Shelby Jo Fenter and Carly Hummel have led the Rebels. Fenter has an ERA of 3.40 and a team-high 69 strikeouts, while Hummel has pitched a team-high 78.0 innings, striking out 62 and posting a 3.77 ERA.
Samford (9-13, 1-5 Southern Conference) will play Memphis on Tuesday before traveling south to Oxford, Miss., to take on the Rebels. The Bulldogs have been led at the plate by sophomore catcher Madison Dickey, who is hitting .385 with two doubles, a triple and six RBI.
In the circle, sophomore, right handed pitcher Mollie Hanson has guided the Bulldogs with 83.2 innings pitched. Hanson (7-8), who has made 16 appearances, including 14 starts, has a 1.76 ERA with 102 strikeouts and just 16 walks.
