Ole Miss Hosts Rhode Island in Three Game Series

The Ole Miss Rebels welcome the Rhode Island Rams to Oxford this weekend for a three game series at Swayze Field.
Ole Miss is currently ranked number eight in the country after starting the season with a 4-zip sweep of No. 12 TCU and sticking it to the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Wednesday night.
In the game against Tennessee-Martin, every starter for the Rebels had at least a single hit, and six players hit pay dirt for multiple hits versus the Skyhawks.
Rhode Island (0-3) dropped a series to the Florida State Seminoles this past weekend. The Rams almost got a win in Tallahassee on Sunday afternoon, leading the Seminoles 6-2 through seven and a-half innings before losing the game in extra innings.
The Rams, who are led at the plate by junior infielder Joe Landi with a batting average of .385 with two RBI’s and two runs scored through three games on the year. Senior RHP Sean Furney is the Rams’ go-to pitcher in the starting rotation with a 2.25 ERA. So far this season, he has struck out five batters and allowed only seven walks.
Coach Mike Bianco is going with the same rotation from last weekend versus TCU, with junior Bobby Wahl on Friday, junior Mike Mayers on Saturday and sophomore Chris Ellis on the mound Sunday.
Rhode Island’s probable pitching rotation to face the Rebels are senior Mike Bradstreet on Friday, senior Sean Furney on Saturday and junior Liam O’Sullivan on Sunday.
This is the first time Ole Miss and Rhode Island meet on a baseball diamond. The first pitch for the Friday opener to the series is at 4:00 p.m.. On Saturday, game two will begin at 1:00 p.m. and Sunday’s match up is at 1:30 p.m.
