Well, we are through one-third of the conference schedule, and two teams sit atop the standings with perfect 6-0 records in SEC play thus far.

Surprising? Maybe. Maybe not.

The surprising part is who is at the top, and no, I don’t mean Florida. The Gators were picked among the SEC’s elite before the season began, and so far, they’ve lived up to that billing.

But Ole Miss is sitting at 6-0 in conference play and 17-2 overall, which are both the best starts in the program’s long history.

LSU finally got their first win in SEC as well this week, while Texas A&M and Auburn continue to falter after starting 2-0.

The Week Ahead

This week presents some intriguing matchups.

Ole Miss hosts Kentucky Tuesday night before traveling to Gainesville, Fla. to take on the Gators Saturday in what could be a battle between two undefeated SEC foes if the Rebels and Gators take care of business in the midweek.

On Saturday, Kentucky will get a shot at redemption from their home loss to Texas A&M when they face the Aggies in College Station, Texas.
