Ole Miss football head coach Hugh Freeze picked up a couple of commitments on Thursday, including five-star wide receiver Laquon Treadwel.

The Crete, Ill. native said at his press conference that he told Freeze and the Rebel coaching staff of his decision before the Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 4, but that decision became public Thursday afternoon.

What can a public commitment from Treadwell do for the rest of the recruiting class?

It’s hard to know for sure, but it could certainly get the ball rolling in the right direction for Ole Miss.

Treadwell has been an active recruiter for the Rebels, and he indicated he’ll continue to try to pull in other big pieces that would make Freeze’s first full class a historic one in Oxford.

Names like Robert Nkemdiche, Antonio Conner, Laremy Tunsil, Carl Lawson, Elijah Daniel, Denver Kirkland, Jason Carr and Stacy Coley  are still out there, and there’s little doubt these guys haven’t all talked about playing together on the next level.

After Treadwell’s announcement, Nkemdiche went to Twitter where he wrote, “‪@SuccessfulQuon shout out to my boy for commiting truuuuuuu!”

I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but it only takes on guy to jump on board before they all start to follow suit.

Four-star running back Kailo Moore made his commitment to Ole Miss a week ago and had previously stated him and Conner would be playing together in college.

Moore also used Twitter to acknowledge his pleasure with Treadwell selecting the Rebels. He wrote, “Welcome to the family bra ‪@SuccessfulQuon.”

Everyone knows the connection with Nkemdiche, the No. 1 overall prospect in the country, with his brother Denzel at Ole Miss, so with one key piece – Treadwell – in place and Conner and Nkemdiche seeming to be leans for Ole Miss, it could be a perfect storm at the perfect time.

National Signing Day is just 19 days away, and it’s going to be a fun ride to watch.
