Thursday’s Rebel News

GP Galloway has spent the last 20 years as Director of Marketing for companies in Charlotte, NC as well as founder of Professional Resource Marketing. Marketing and sales has been a passion of his for years. He now spends his time blogging about one of the great loves of his life, Ole Miss Rebel sports. He is married to the former Rebecca Dail of Chapin, SC and spends time with his dogs Juno, Koko Taylor, and Levon. He enjoys blues music from the Mississippi Delta and has an extensive blues collection.

Under Armour news: Robert Nkemdiche has been trying to convince Montravious Adams to come to Ole Miss with him. The number one player in the nation as well as the number one DT to play beside him? I think we all knew Coach Freeze could recruit, but I don’t think anybody expected we’d be in on so many top recruits so early! Robert will be leaving  after Friday’s Under Armour all star (all star!) game to go see his brother and Ole Miss play against Pittsburgh. He has named Ole Miss and LSU his leaders but has said it would be hard not to choose the Rebs. Rebel Nation concurs!

Former Rebel linebacker Ashlee Palmer signed a contract extension with the Lions. It was done before the end of the season but just now released to the public. Palmer, also one of the Lions’ best special-teams players, signed a two-year extension with base salaries of $1 million for 2013 and $1.25 million for 2014. He led the Lions with 14 special-teams tackles and was named to Pro Football Focus’ all-pro team on special teams. Good for Ashlee!

Rebel football player Derrick Wilson, a junior offensive lineman from Greenville, Miss., is seeking to become the legal guardian of his 11 year old sister, Fallon, following the death of their mother, Jelks, in January 2012. Ole Miss is setting up a fund for this.  If you want to help call the UMAA Foundation at 662-915-7159.

The Rebels practiced in Birmingham yesterday on a cold, cloudy day at Birmingham-Southern College. The QB’s had issues with the cold weather and handling the football. They need the practice in the weather to be ready for Saturday’s game.We practice again today. Members of the team visited patients at Children’s of Alabama Hospital this afternoon. There will be some new Ole Miss fans there!

BJGE didn’t play Sunday after tweaking his hamstring in warmups for Cincinnati’s game against the Ravens. He didn’t practice on Tuesday. He was back on the field Wednesday in light duty.
