SEC BasketballSEC teams post week-long losing streak
By David Collier

The Southeastern Conference doesn’t have a lot of respect in the world of college basketball, and no one did anything this weekend to change that notion.
Over the past week, the conference went a combined 8-6, including losses by LSU to Boise State on Friday, Alabama to Virginia Commonwealth, Texas A&M to Oklahoma, Georgia to Iona and Mississippi State to Loyola.
The only loss that won’t hurt the conference’s overall RPI is Florida’s one-point defeat on the road at Arizona Saturday. LSU and Florida were the only remaining undefeated teams in the league going into the weekend, but now, no unbeaten teams remain.
The most impressive win for the conference came on Thursday night when Tennessee handed No. 23 Wichita State their first loss of the season with a 69-60 win in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Week Ahead
The SEC will have some opportunities to improve their RPI in the coming week with several marquee match ups on the schedule.
Alabama has a road contest at Texas Tech on Wednesday night, while Vanderbilt will take on Middle Tennessee Friday night. The best weekend contests include USC at Georgia, LSU at Marquette, Illinois vs. Missouri in St. Louis and Florida vs. Kansas State in Kansas City.
Ole Miss will also get a good test this week, as they first face Loyola Marymount on the road Wednesday night, before heading to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Hawaii Airlines Diamond Head Classic. The Rebels open up tournament play with a game against Indiana State. Other possible match ups during the tournament include San Diego State and Arizona, among others.
