The Ole Miss Rebels are looking to get back to their winning ways on Friday when they take on Eastern Tennessee State University. The team lost their last game to Middle Tennessee State, breaking a six-game winning streak.
When the Rebels and the Buccaneers square off at Tad Smith Coliseum at 7 p.m., they will be taking part in a non-bracketed game of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. The game is a warm-up for the Diamond Head Classic tournament that begins next week.
The seventeen points put up by junior Marshall Henderson over Middle Tennessee State was not enough for the Rebels to overcome the heart-breaking 65-62 loss to the Blue Raiders.
“If you would have told me that we would have held them to 65 points in the game (and) … we would have out rebounded them, I would have liked our chances,” Coach Kennedy said.
Eastern Tennessee (2-5) is trying to get their season on the right track. In their last outing this past weekend, the North Carolina Tar Heels defeated the Bucs by a score of 77-58.
The game marks the fourteenth meeting between the two schools. Ole Miss leads the series 8-5, with Ole Miss winning the last two matchups. The last time they meet, the Rebels walked away the victor by a score of 71-50.
The game against Eastern Tennessee State will air on ESPN3.
