Warship From The Civil War
In the Civil War the Confederates established a Navy Yard in 1862 on a nearby channel of the Yazoo River. It was there that the ironclad “Arkansas” was finished. The warship had a short life — three weeks. The “Arkansas” warship is now on display for the public at the Vicksburg Military Park.
