Every Rebel fan is excited to go to a bowl game this year after two years in the SEC shadows, in a season that exceeded hopes and put Ole Miss back “on schedule,” as Coach Hugh Freeze might say. But few exude the spirit like one small fry we saw last night did—showing the team some mad love at a unique little party at Vaught-Hemingway stadium. Fans and players, including Donte Moncrief (wearing white), looked on as pint-sized Rebel fan Luke Newsom, son of Les and Ginger Newsom, tore up the turf.
December 6, 2012, at the Vaught, a video shoot turned pep party was held, with Ole Miss football players, students, cheerleaders, fans, and student hip-hop sensations King Kobraz having a good time on the field. The Kobraz were shooting a new video at the Vaught for their song “Rebelz”—the anthem that name-checks and gives props to the 2012 squad of underdog, hard-playing Rebs—with the rallying cry, “Feed Moncrief!”
