Mississippi Facts –– Machine Gun Kelly
In 1932, the infamous Machine Gun Kelly robbed the Citizen’s Bank in Tupelo –– his last bank robbery. Some in the northern press mistakenly named Pretty Boy Floyd as the perpetrator. Incensed, Floyd wrote a letter to a Tupelo paper denying his involvement. Back in 1917, Machine Gun Kelly had briefly been a student at Mississippi State.
