The Velvet Ditch

Home Game at Ole Miss

Virtually anywhere you look in Oxford, Mississippi, and environs, you’re liable to encounter a feast for the eye. Images of football players, our Saturday afternoon equivalent of Greek Olympians of old, vie with visions of Delta bluesmen –– hard truths written indelibly in their eyes, and, of course, the Sorority girls for which Ole Miss is world renowned.
In this halcyon place, cool granite monuments to literary greats stand stalwart, motionless against an animated though fleeting present ever unfolding on the Oxford Square, the Grove and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Seasons come and go, leaving behind their hurried visual footprints in images such as these captured by Oxford Photographer Mike Stanton. Watch for his visual documentary photos as the perpetual story unfolds in Oxford, Mississippi.
