10s of Oxford: Service of the Community is At Forefront

In our weekly 10s of Oxford post we recognize those whose tireless service has benefited the Oxford community. In today’s post we salute these three ladies for their passion in their work.

Janet McCarty

Janet McCarty is a businesswoman with a heart of gold. Her natural dog treats company was borne out of her determination to nurse a sickly abandoned puppy, Cotton, to full health. She was faced with a challenge of finding foods that would help Cotton with her food sensitivity so she began making food by hand. Her puppy grew to 70 pounds just months shy of her third birthday.

Along with the dog McCarty’s dreams grew. She now helps pet owners give their dogs safe, quality food, and also Mississippi farmers by using their produce and especially the people who were given a second chance by the Drug Court to reclaim their lives by working for Cotton’s Cafe.

Helean Davis

Helean Davis is the branch manager of Renasant Bank in Oxford. She came to that position after years of hard work and a passion for helping others.

“I love people and customer service,” Davis said to Angela Rogalski, HottyToddy.com staff reporter. “I enjoy making people happy and supplying whatever they need to make their lives simpler. I love what I do because it allows me to have that one-on-one connection with our customers.”

Captain Libby Lytle

Captain Lytle embodies selfless service and great attention to her position at the Oxford police department, especially overseeing the rewriting of the department’s policy and procedures for the police to meet both state and national accreditation standards. She also teaches criminal law every spring and fall semester at Northwest Community College.

As a member of the International Association of Women Police, she is the Region 5 coordinator who oversees the Southern region of IAWP. She founded and remains the president of Mississippi Women’s Law Enforcement Association (MSWLEA). She oversees training for the MSWLEA membership in Mississippi and open it up to women in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and Louisiana.
