Dent May Was Born Too Late
Wrap thine self in Oxford songsmith’s Warm Blanket.
From his new album Warm Blanket, Dent May‘s new single “Born Too Late” and its video (below) with vistas from the Neshoba County Fair and Pickwick Lake wrap the listener/viewer in the lament of a songwriter born in too recent a time.
Indeed, Dent May was born too late. Once, in the late 1970s, I watched his father fall through the thin ice on a pond, which was located in the woods off then-dead-end Sisk Avenue, in the area where the Oxford Convention Center is now. Dent probably wasn’t born yet, but I suspect had he been present, he might’ve joined in the laughs at his old man’s expense. And then, of course, Mr. May had to retreat to our house on Ridgewood Manor and get all up in a warm blanket. Which brings us back to Dent.
If you’ve fallen through the thin ice of life lately and need a comforting musical embrace, Warm Blanket is available locally at The End of All Music at 1423 North Lamar Boulevard.
