Lafayette High School Wins the 4A State Championship
The Lafayette Commodores won the 2016 4A State championship 27-12 over Popularville at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.
Lafayette (13-2) took control of the game early by opening the game with 14 points scored due largely to the running game. The Commodores had moment on their side adding another score.
As the first half came to a close, the Commodores took a commanding 20-0 lead into the locker room.
Popularville (13-2) was handed their first lost since August 9th, when they dropped its opening game of the season. The Hornets did not get on the board until the third quarter as they when they put up six points in both the the third and fourth quarters.
The Commodores now have won their third state title in program history and the first since the 2011 season.
