Vote Now: Ole Miss in Running for Most Beautiful US College Campus
Voting is now open for Best Beautiful College Campus in America.
The Ole Miss campus is currently ranked #1 among some of the most beautiful US college campuses in USA Today’s Readers Choice contest. (Note: Now, as of 8:35 a.m. CST on Mon. Sept. 26, we are ranked 1st!)
As the Director of Landscape Services at the University of Mississippi, Jeff McManus is the mastermind behind the landscaping that infuses 2,000-acre campus.
“We have a great group of hard working staff who love Ole Miss and what they do. Honored to be in the top 6,” McManus said.
When McManus arrived at the University in 2000, he took on the challenge of a multi-
million dollar landscaping beautification implementation project. Faced with a demand for excellence and high productivity, and a stagnant budget, McManus says he knew that growing people were critical to growing the plants.
Through that window of experience, McManus developed his approach to managing resources and developing personnel. The result bloomed into his “GROW-theory”; a management and professional development approach based on the belief that all humans either strive for or have within them the elements of Greatness, Resiliency, Opportunity, and Wisdom.
“They just need a fertile environment to GROW,” McManus said.
In 2013 the University of Mississippi was picked by The Princeton Review as the most beautiful campus in America. In 2011 Newsweek ranked Ole Miss’ campus as the most beautiful in the country.
Voting ends Sept. 26 at 12noon EDT.
