Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, March 24 – Sunday, March 27
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 16 disturbances, 14 alarms, 10 suspicious activities, eight careless drivers, seven welfare concerns, six noise violations, six complaints of lost property, three fire department assists, three illegally parked cars, three petit larcenies, two motorist assists, two civil matters, two 911 hang up calls, a code violation, a scam, a harassment, an auto burglary on Van Buren, a trespassing, a grand larceny and an animal complaint.
Oxford police investigated 19 wrecks, issued 77 traffic citations and made 26 arrests on the following charges:

No taillights, no driver’s license and no insurance
Speeding, no driver’s license, no insurance and DUI
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
No insurance, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI (Wreck)
Disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and public intoxication
Suspended driver’s license and possession of Schedule I narcotics
Expired tag, suspended driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia
Public intoxication, disturbing the peace, simple assault and resisting arrest

Disabled taillights, possession of beer by minor, fake ID and possession of drug paraphernalia at Guyton Hall
Saturday, March 26
Suspicious vehicle at Stockard Hall
Public drunk with fake ID at Martin Hall
Possession of drug paraphernalia at Kincannon Hall
Service call of a suspicious person at Marijuana Project
Vandalism per malicious mischief at Phi Delta Theta house
Recovered lost property and fake ID at Oxford-University Stadium

Smoke detector activation at 8:38 a.m. by cooking at First Baptist day care
Cancelled call at 8:48 a.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings
Smoke detector activation at 9:15 a.m. by burned food at Canterbury Crest
Stand by at 10:01 a.m. where a car hit a pole and the fire department stood by for Oxford Electric at West Jackson Avenue and Country Club Road
Smoke detector activation at 10:36 a.m. where workers activated at smoke detector at 3707 Lyles Drive
Smoke detector activation at 6:18 p.m. by burned food at 313 Ridgewood Manor
Friday, March 25
Report of smoke at 7:27 p.m. at Oxford Health & Rehab – unfounded (Blind resident had been telling employees that everything was on fire for a few days.)
Saturday, March 26
Electrical fire at 6:11 p.m. that went out before arrival at Popeye’s
Resetting of alarm system at 9:53 p.m. per house mother’s request at Sigma Pi house
Sunday, March 27
Smoke detector activated at 4:01 a.m. by burned garlic toast in the microwave at Stewart Hall
Fire alarm malfunction at 3:16 p.m. at 1400 Van Buren Avenue
Grease fire at 9:46 p.m. at The Connection – a resident put water on the grease fire which caused the fire to reach the sprinkler system which put the fire out.
