This afternoon at 12:30 p.m., the University of Mississippi chapter of NAACP held a student-led rally in opposition of the campus presence of the Mississippi state flag due to its Confederate battle flag design.

An hour later or so, a Georgia chapter of the Klu Klux Klan arrived on campus to counter-protest. The University police officers escorted the KKK members off-campus.

Read The Clarion-Ledger for the full story. It has pictures and videos of the incident on-campus.

The UM chapters of NAACP and College Democrats have penned a resolution concerning the state flag’s presence on campus for the Associated Student Body government to consider on October 20.

The University is a state funded school so how does the UM NAACP have any right to ask for removal of the flag?
