As part of Ole Miss’s Homecoming festivities, the Rebel men’s and women’s basketball teams will partner with the City of Oxford to host Square Jam on the Square Friday, October 12 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Square Jam will start after the Homecoming parade ends at 6:15 p.m. The Homecoming parade will start at the Grove at 5:30 p.m. On an outdoor basketball court with lights, set up on the east side of the Square in the parking lot in front of City Hall, fans will get to see the teams show off skills in a variety of competitions. In addition, both teams will be signing autographs at the event, as a DJ spins music.

“We are very excited about the upcoming basketball season, and this event will serve as a great jump-off for the year,” said men’s basketball Head Coach Andy Kennedy. “I hope all the Rebel fans will come out to support this team.”
“What a great night for the fans of Ole Miss,” women’s basketball Head Coach Adrian Wiggins said. “A Homecoming weekend full of men’s and women’s basketball and football on The Square—I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night.”
“Ole Miss is very excited to partner with the City of Oxford for this one-of-a kind event that will serve as a tipoff to a great hoops season,” Athletics Director Ross Bjork said.

“This gives us the opportunity to showcase our basketball programs to fans in the greatest college town in America. I would especially like to thank Oxford Mayor Pat Patterson for his help making this event possible.” Friday’s Square Jam coincides with the official start of men’s basketball preseason practice.
The men’s and women’s teams will open the 2012-13 regular season with a doubleheader on November 9. The women will host Southeast Louisiana at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m. versus Mississippi Valley State.
